# Our belief

Journalism improves when the newsroom reflects the readers and communities it serves. At The Sports Rise we cover sport across gender, race, geography, disability, income, and age — and we believe our reporting gets stronger when our own team is similarly representative.

• Open, skills-based hiring with structured interviews and bias training for interviewers.
• A paid internship pipeline open specifically to under-represented groups in sports journalism.
• Annual pay-equity and promotion audits with independent review.
• Mentoring and sponsorship programmes for staff from under-represented backgrounds.
• Contributor network that prioritises writers based in the geographies we cover (not only in London / New York).
