Our mission

The Sports Rise publishes rigorous, independent journalism about the sports and athletes that shape the emerging and global sporting calendar. We exist to inform our readers, not to flatter the industry.

Independence

Editorial decisions belong to the editorial team, not to owners, advertisers, or sponsors. Commercial partnerships never buy favourable coverage. Sponsored content is clearly labelled and is produced by a separate team under our Advertising Policy.

Accuracy & verification

  1. Every factual claim must be verifiable and sourced. We name sources wherever possible.
  2. We contact the subject of critical reporting for comment before publication and include their response (or note that it was declined).
  3. Breaking news carries a visible Developing story banner until we can fully verify.
  4. Statistics, scorelines, and historical facts are verified against two independent sources.

Sourcing

  • On the record is the default.
  • On background — quotable without the source's name, reserved for newsworthy information that cannot be obtained on the record.
  • Off the record — used only as a guide to further reporting, never in a published article.
  • Anonymous sources are used only when the story is in the public interest, the information cannot be obtained on the record, and the source risks retaliation. Two senior editors must approve each anonymous source.

Plagiarism & attribution

Plagiarism is a firing offence. Every quote, statistic, and reported detail from another outlet is clearly attributed with an inline link. We use plagiarism-detection software on every piece before publication.

AI-assisted content

Large-language-model tools may be used to brainstorm, summarise, or edit — never to invent facts or produce publishable text unattended. Every article is reviewed by a human editor who takes responsibility for its accuracy. Fully AI-generated articles (if ever used) are disclosed with an "Assisted by AI" note.

Conflicts of interest

Writers disclose any personal or commercial relationship with a subject they cover. We do not accept gifts worth more than nominal value. Review samples are returned or donated after the review.

Photos, video, audio

We never manipulate a photo's news content. Cropping, colour-correction, and routine sharpening are allowed; composites and added elements are not, unless clearly labelled as an illustration. Audio and video clips are edited only for length and clarity; the meaning of a statement is preserved.

Diversity & representation

See our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement.

Accountability

Every byline carries the reporter's name and email. Errors are fixed under our Corrections Policy. Readers may appeal an editorial decision to editorial@thesportsrise.com.
