What Is Cricket USA and How Does It Work?
Cricket USA refers to professional cricket played in the United States, most notably through Major League Cricket (MLC), which launched in 2023. The format used is called T20 (Twenty20), the shortest mainstream version of cricket, designed to finish in roughly three hours.
The basic objective:
- Two teams of 11 players each compete against one another.
- One team bats to score as many runs as possible.
- The other team bowls and fields to restrict runs and dismiss batters.
Each team gets one innings (turn to bat), lasting a maximum of 20 overs. An over is a set of six legal deliveries bowled by one player. The team that scores more runs wins.
If scores are tied at the end of both innings, a Super Over is played — each team gets one extra over — and this continues until a winner is found.
A coin toss decides which team bats first. The team batting second then chases the target set by the first team. Cricket USA is fast-paced, exciting, and perfect for new fans looking for action-packed sport.
