Lesson 1: What Is Roundnet?
Roundnet, popularly known by the brand name Spikeball, is a fast-paced 360-degree net sport governed internationally by the International Roundnet Federation (IRF) and in the United States by USA Roundnet.
The objective is simple: hit the ball off the net so that the opposing team cannot return it within their allowed touches.
- Standard competitive play is 2 vs 2
- There are no boundary lines or a traditional court
- Play happens in 360 degrees around the net
Because there are no sidelines or out-of-bounds, the open space surrounding the net is your entire field. This makes Roundnet unique — you can move in any direction at any time.
The rally continues back and forth between the two teams until one team fails to legally return the ball. That team loses the rally and the opposing team earns a point.
Roundnet is beginner-friendly, requires minimal equipment, and can be played almost anywhere outdoors or indoors.
