Lesson 5 of 5 · Learn Sim Racing
Basic Strategy & Beginner Tips
Now that you know the rules, here's how to approach your first races strategically and safely.
Race strategy basics:
- Use Practice sessions fully — they don't affect your ratings, so experiment freely.
- Always attempt Qualifying to earn a fair grid position; skipping sends you to the back.
- In endurance races, plan your pit stops for fuel and tires — these can decide the winner.
Beginner tips for cleaner racing:
- Protect your Safety Rating — avoid contact with walls and other cars; every incident point counts.
- Learn the track limits early; repeated off-track excursions add up to costly penalties.
- Under yellow/caution flags, never overtake — hold your position and slow down.
- Yield promptly to blue flag traffic to avoid unnecessary contact.
- When in doubt, leave space — heavy contact costs you 4x incident points.
Big picture goal:
- Build your iRating by finishing consistently ahead of your expected position.
- The championship title goes to the driver with the most accumulated points across the season — so finishing every race cleanly beats chasing risky wins.
