Why we carry advertising

Advertising keeps The Sports Rise free for readers and lets us pay journalists fairly. We work mainly with Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager, supplemented by a small list of direct sponsors we vet ourselves.

What we accept

  • Sporting goods, apparel, nutrition, travel, streaming, gaming, finance, fintech, and mainstream consumer categories;
  • Direct sponsorships from brands that pass our vetting;
  • Native and display advertising clearly labelled Ad, Sponsored, or Paid content;
  • Affiliate links in line with our Affiliate Disclosure.

What we do not accept

  • Tobacco, prescription-only medicines, weapons, illegal services, hate speech;
  • Adult, sexually explicit, or violent creatives;
  • Deceptive, manipulative, malware-bearing, auto-playing-audio, or "system-warning" ads;
  • Fake news, fake testimonials, misleading health claims;
  • Gambling advertising in jurisdictions where it is restricted by law;
  • Political or religious campaigning without clear sponsor identification.

Labelling

Paid placements are always labelled. Display ads carry Google's standard Ad badge. Sponsored articles carry Sponsored content above the headline, the sponsor's name and logo, and a reminder that the editorial team was not involved in the piece. Affiliate links carry the disclosure specified in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Ad placements

We aim for a comfortable reading experience. The number and size of ads on each page complies with Google's Better Ads Standards; we never use flashing, auto-playing-audio, or pop-up creatives; and we respect Core Web Vitals budgets.

Reporting a problematic ad

If you see an ad that violates this policy or looks like malware, take a screenshot and email it to editorial@thesportsrise.com. We remove violating creatives from rotation within 24 hours.
