Submitting a takedown notice
A valid notice must include all of the following (17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3)):
- A physical or electronic signature of the owner (or authorised agent) of the exclusive right that is alleged to be infringed;
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list);
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (specific URL on The Sports Rise);
- Your contact information — address, phone, email;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
Incomplete notices may not be actioned. Submitting a false notice may make you liable for damages (including costs and attorney's fees) under §512(f).
Counter-notice
If you believe material you posted was removed by mistake, you may submit a counter-notice under §512(g) containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the material removed and the location at which it previously appeared;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- Your name, address, phone, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for New York, United States and that you will accept service of process from the complainant.
Repeat-infringer policy
Accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright will be terminated in accordance with §512(i).
