How Scoring Works
Scoring in Lacrosse Sixes is straightforward — making it easy for beginners to follow the game!
Scoring Basics:
- Every goal is worth one point — there is no two-point arc or bonus scoring
- The team with more goals at the end of regulation wins
- Regulation consists of four 8-minute quarters
After a Goal Is Scored:
- Play restarts quickly — there is no lengthy reset
- The scored-upon goalkeeper retrieves the ball within 5 seconds and brings it back into play
- This keeps the game moving fast and exciting
Face-Offs (Draws):
- A face-off only happens at the start of each quarter and at the start of overtime — NOT after every goal
If the Game Is Tied:
- The game goes to sudden-death overtime played in 3-minute periods
- The first team to score wins immediately — this is called the "golden goal" rule
- Overtime periods continue until someone scores
The quick restart after goals and the golden goal overtime rule make every moment count. Even a closely matched game stays thrilling right to the final whistle!
