The Playing Area & Equipment
Sim racing takes place on virtual road circuits or oval tracks that closely mirror real-world venues. The track surface is bordered by white lines that define the legal racing area — staying within these lines is a core rule you'll learn more about later.
Key equipment you race with:
- Wheel & pedals – The essential physical controls every sim racer uses.
- VR headset – An optional immersive addition some drivers use.
- Racing rig – The frame or seat setup that holds your wheel and pedals.
Inside the simulation, your car is equipped with:
- Tires & fuel – Both are managed during pit stops.
- A pit box in the pit lane where you receive service during the race.
The pit lane has its own speed limit that must be obeyed at all times.
In major leagues, racing is enforced both automatically by the simulator and by human stewards who review incidents. Knowing the track layout and pit lane entry/exit are among the first things a beginner should practice during the Practice session.
