Sim Racing Fuel & Stint Calculator

Enter your race length and pace and this calculator returns the laps you will complete, the fuel you need (with a safety margin), and how many pit stops that means for your tank size. Works for endurance and sprint races on any sim — iRacing, ACC, Le Mans Ultimate and more.

How to use it

  1. Choose whether your race is timed (in minutes) or a fixed number of laps.
  2. Enter your average lap time and your fuel burn per lap (check the in-car display or telemetry).
  3. Add your tank capacity to also get the pit-stop count and fuel per stint.
  4. Read off total laps, fuel needed, fuel with margin, and the number of stops.

Frequently asked questions

How much fuel margin should I add?

One to two laps of fuel is a safe margin for most races — enough to cover a slow formation lap, a late safety car, or a few hard laps where you burn more than your average.

How do I find my fuel per lap?

Most sims show fuel used on the in-car display or in telemetry tools like MoTeC. Run three or four representative laps, note the fuel used, and divide by the number of laps.

Does this work for timed races?

Yes. For a timed race the calculator estimates total laps from your average lap time, then rounds up — because you always start a final lap that you must finish.
